Originally from California, where my career was taking off as a CPA, I suddenly felt called to become a missionary. I traveled to Africa in 1999 serving in Liberia, Kenya, then Sierra Leone before coming to New York City in 2007. In New York I continue to serve the same organization, the Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, as internal auditor. In this capacity I travel around the world to audit the ministries and missions of Global Ministries.

Drawing is new to me, a gift that began to develop in 2001 without classroom instruction. Africa awakened something in me that allowed the freedom to try, to overcome the timidity of a blank surface more depth than their faces, to depict the look in their eyes, the smile or sad frown that brings to life more than a face – it brings the heartache, the delight, the soul, their very existence.

Drawing is new to me, a gift that began to develop in 2001 without classroom instruction. My drawings hopefully demonstrate the uninhibited beauty of precious children and wild, free animals. From the power of creation I attempt to bring re-creation, through the emotion of love and devotion. Most of my drawings are done from photos I have taken, mostly in East Africa. With pen and paper I spent many nights listening to BBC on a battery operated radio and drawing by candlelight.

  Dot by Dot!
I see from white to black and all the shades in between, expressing this by using the technique of pointillism (stippling). Each limited edition print is produced to Giclée print standards. 100% of the profit from the sale of each of these prints will go toward the life improvement of the children in Africa.

It is through the sale of these pictures that I am able to continue to support the children of Africa.
